The Memory Stone (Week 2: April 4-6)

Perhaps it was overly ambitious to think that once production period began for The Memory Stone that I'd be able to update my blog on a daily basis. Since Thursday music rehearsals have been in full gear, and there has been a non-stop whirwind of activities. On Friday Matthew Ozawa (director), Tim Meyers (music director), Yumi Kurosawa (21-string koto), and I were invited for a interview at The Front Row, 91.7 kuha fm classical. We have also been interviewed by a number of newspapers and other PR outlets. Our director, Matthew Ozawa, spoke with Houston Press about The Memory Stone. Librettist Kenny Fries and I spoke with news outlet Broadway World about our collaboration creating the opera. Last night we had our last dress rehearsal at the HGO, with all of the singers in full costume, and today the set gets moved to the Asia Society. So excited as we move forward to the premiere on Tuesday, April 9th!
